Here are my specs....
Intel Pentium D 2.8ghz
1.5gb RAM
Asus motherboard
128mb ATI radeon Powercolor 9250 (currently)
I want to upgrade my video card..
What would be the most preferred and affordable one?|||Do you need to upgrade? are you experiencing any problems?
I recently put an ASUS EN8600GT (Nvidia) card in my computer, it's quite small and has 256MB Ram and also software so you can have a go at overclocking it, but after a while I deleted all of that, because the difference is really quite small.
I can't hear it, and it seems pretty fast with games.
Much better, in fact, than the internet reviews I read seemed to suggest.
It cost me 5600 baht - that's about 166 dollars US, or 84 GB pounds. I think that 2GB Ram is a cool move too, more so than|||It looks as though you have PCI Video slots. Not much choice out there. Consider upgrading the motherboard to PICE and the choices would be endless, almost. In your case though the nvidia 5500 may be an upgrade to the 9250|||8800 gts 768mb|||I would suggest an nVidia GeForce 6800 256MB

Am I limited to what video card I can get?
here are my Specs. http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/emachines-t5212/4507-3118_7-32085027.html
I'm going to get a Core 2 Duo E8500/E8600 processor, and a 512 GeForce 8800 video card. So, if I upgrade my power supply am I basically good to go?|||what card do u have now you might need a new motherboard|||I don't really see the connection between your questions but anyway.
You would need to replace your motherboard. It's an extremely old model which does not support core 2 duo.
If you're going to go to that much trouble I'd suggest you build the computer yourself.

Monitor will not pick up signal from video card?
my video card has been working fine for a year and a half now, had to recently change out the power supply and immediately after my monitor will no longer pick up signal from the computer for more than a second. you can tell it knows when the computer is being turned off and on but i get nothing more than a blink of change. tried another monitor and same thing happened. must video card or perhaps i screwed something up replacing the ps. help.|||If PC does not BEEP once after powering ON, it is not booting at all that is why there is no video signal to monitor. Check the 4-pin 12V connector (yellow and black wires) to motherboard to insure proper fit. Also try resetting CMOS by removing CMOS battery on motherboard for at least 30 seconds then put it back. You must do this while PC is UNPLUGGED.
Good video card that can be used with a 240w power supply?
I need a good video card that can be used with a 240w power supply (pci express x16)
Also whats a good but affordable lga 775 cpu?|||Well, there are some low profile Nvidia 210 video cards, they are low end and low power, but better than built-in video chips.
You are severely limited by your power supply. I've run a Geforce 210 in a small machine with a 275W supply.
The 210 only takes about 10-20 Watts of power...
A 220 takes a bit over 20W...
An ATI 4550 may be an alternative, if there is a low profile one out there... (here:)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as… But, it requires a 300W supply, more than you have - but then, the card does not use much power... However even the 210, which uses 11W of power recommends a 300W supply, which you do not need...
Power ratings:

You CANNOT run an 8400 or a 5450, you do not have the power for them.|||There are no good graphics cards that can be used with such a weak power supply. Any cards that it will run will be useless, you should replace your power supply so that you're free to choose whatever graphics card you like.
A good but affordable LGA775 processor is the Core2Quad Q6600. There are better Core2Quad processors as well as the Core2Quad Extreme but you'll get the Q6600 quite cheaply and it's just as good as a Phenom II X4
Edit: I did wonder if it was a small form factor machine. If that was mine then I'd add a full sized case to my shopping list and transfer the parts into it, then I could use a normal PSU and a good graphics card.|||LOL
Maybe 10+ years ago they used that little but now a minimum or 500w is need

If I have integrated graphics and a dedicated video card, can I use either DVI connection?
If you have both and you connect your monitor to the port on the motherboard, will it still utilize the dedicated card, or do you have to connect directly?|||Most board are set to use the dedicated graphics when sensed.
Ati Radeon video card for the sims 3?
So i went on a ati website to find a new video card to down load, or it might have been a graphics card i dont know. But i downloaded one for my computer the first time it says i downloaded it for the wrong computer type. so i picked another and then it said it was not compatable with my hardware....whats up with that?|||1) video card and graphics card are the same thing
2) you dont download graphics cards, you buy them. what you downloaded were the drivers for a different graphics card than you have, which is why it said your hardware wasnt compatible
3) no offense, but you should really let someone else take care of upgrading your computer.|||Ok...
You download a driver for a video card, not an actual video card.
A video card is a physical piece of hardware. It is what allows your computer to display images on your monitor.
If you are getting a message about needing to upgrade your video card when playing the Sims 3, you are going to have to buy a new video card. You cannot download them.|||You can not download a video card, video cards and graphics cards are the same thing. A video card is the hard ware that you install into your computer, you probably downloaded a driver, if you need more help, feel free to email me.

Is my video card compatible with Windows 7 Ultimate beta?
I cannot get my ATI Radeon 9200 LE (128MB) graphics card to install on my computer which is running the Windows 7 Ultimate beta. I tried finding some drivers on the internet, but none of them will work. What should I do to fix this problem?|||wait until windows 7 is released then ATI will release drivers, that is if they still support a GPU that old...|||Unless it has built in drives your pretty much out of luck til official release.
Windows 7 is just like saying "Vista Lite"|||I can't find drivers for windows 7 for any ati cards. I have found all the windows 7 drivers ofr the nvidia cards, but not ati, stange. you may have to put xp back on unitlthere is proper support for ati.
You will need to have the correct dirvers to run that card, and if they don't make windows 7 drivers yet for ati, the oyu are sol
Sorry, wish I could be of more help
Here is where I went ot check
http://downloads.guru3d.com/|||I'm pretty sure that card can handle Windows 7. I'm running it now and it found drivers for me instantly.
However, that card is pretty old - if there are drivers in Vista for it, you can install these on Windows 7 and they will work fine!
Good Luck :)
