I need the best graphics card $500 can get me for video editing?

Just bought a new computer for video editting with Premiere Pro and need to upgrade my graphics card. What is the best $500 can buy me? thanks|||That's a tricky one.

Video editing requires a really good CPU (quad-core or higher) and lots of RAM, but doesn't really need a high-end graphics card. There's not a substantial difference between an $80 card and a $300 card for that type of work, unlike gaming where the graphics card makes all the difference.

You'll probably want to go with an Nvidia Card instead of an ATI card for video editing because Nvidia's CUDA is superior to ATI's Stream technology (assuming you want to play around with the GPU-accelerated rendering at all). I'd check with others who are already using Premiere Pro and see if they have any specific recommendations, otherwise I'd probably go with a GTS 250 as a nice general-purpose card. Yes the GTX 260 is better, but if you're not gaming it's probably not worth the extra $75 (and possible power supply upgrade needed to run it). By the same token, the specialized workstation cards like Nvidia's Quadro FX and ATI's FirePro don't seem to be players in the video editing arena.|||This is the best I would say for $500:

But you can get GREAT graphics cards for a lot less, just look around here:

Check ATI's 4850 which is pretty cheep now days but with 800 stream processors, it'll render video great and not break the bank.|||What's the interface for the video card?
