Can I replace the video card in a Dell XPS?

The current card is a 256MB NVIDIA UTLRA 6800. If it can be replaced what would you recommend?|||upgrading a graphics card you need to take a couple of things into account. First the graphics card type. I assume if you have some model XPS then you have a pci-e x16 slot. so there will be a huge variety of cards to chose from. You will also need to take into account your current power supply. Some of the larger cards require more power and require additional available power leads. and of course your budget. I suggest http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.…

find out what card your system can support and what price is right for you.|||If it can be replace get a ATI 4870x2.This is the best card I have ever found and they only run about 600.|||Ok, is that an PCI e card? if it is, then yes you can replace it, make sure though the voltage outputs stay close to the same. Some of the bigger cards require 2 power supplys to run them. As for which card to buy, you will need to decide what the comp is used for, gaming, editing, or just surfing and what not. If it's for gaming, then go with a higher end card, with more core speed, higher pixel ratings on it then the one you now have. I really like the BFG series cards, they all come with life time warrenties. I would say maybe one of the 9 series cards, but it also depends on what you want to spend.
