Where can i get a cheap video card for dell 1100 laptop?

i have a 2002 laptop and i wanna play games but its slow like video reasons can anyone help me find somewhere cheap?|||You cannot replace a video card on a laptop.|||If you want a cheap video card, you can go to

http://www.daddysave.com/hardware--memory.html they have some pretty cheap video cards.|||Can't change it in a laptop

If I am using a PCI Video card in my PC now, will I be able to use a PCI Express card as an upgrade?

I have been looking for a new, better video card to upgrade to and I have a Dell Dimension 2400 (I know, it's old.) Right now, I am using an nVidia 64 MB PCI card. I would like to upgrade to the Sapphire ATI Radeon X1300 256MB PCI Express card, but I am not sure if it will work with my system. Please help me out!|||I can almost guarintee it will not work. You might have a PCI-E slot, but I've never heard of someone with a PCI-E slot opting to use a PCI card instead. If you are certin you have a PCI-E slot, then you can go ahead, but I'm telling you, I am almost certin you don't, and that it will not work. PCI and PCI-E slots are different.

The best you could do if you don't have a PCI-E slot or an AGP slot, would be to get a new PCI card.|||PCI & PCI-E are completely different and can not be interchanged. You older Dell 2400 does not have a PCI-E slot, therefor you can't use the new faster card. If you have an AGP slot you can upgrade to a faster AGP card.|||Sorry my friend.. there is no pci express expansion slot in ur comp.. i have checked online with dell and for sure pci express card is not compatible.. better dont buy pci cards they dont perform tooo good.. u better get new mother board|||If you do not have a PCI-Express slot the card will not work. I think it is time for a motherboard/cpu upgrade as well as the video card. You might want to read this article for pointers:

Can I replace a video card on a HP laptop?

Well, I need a better video card for better gaming and movies, so can I replace my video card on a HP Laptop?

Answer pleaseeee|||well you can, but not by yourself. It's gonna cost you an arm and a leg to replace, because you have to find a tech willing to do it, then you have to be able to find the replacement part so on and so forth.

If you still have warranty use it and get it replace otherwise you have to buy a new laptop.

What is the best geforce video card for my computer?

Ram:2GB

Current video card:GeForce 7100 gs

OS:Windows xp

Processor:intel pentium 4

Motherboard:intel D102ggc2|||Nvidia Geforce 7100 GS is not a good GPU to run World in Conflict, release 2007, best and inexpensive option is to buy a Geforce 8800 GS card (good card with high performance and quality and inexpensive, it can run all of the games.

It is less $ 88.

But if you are looking for ultimate solution then buy the world's fastest card (your motherboard is compatible with it), ATI's Radeon HD 4870 X2, Dual GPU solution but expensive nowadays, almost $500.|||I would suggest a processor/video card upgrade.

That card is PCI-E, so you can use most cards. You might want to look into an 8800 GS, depending on your price range.

Also don't upgrade to vista, it will drop your FPS and doesn't have any real benefits for gaming (DX10 is a joke)|||If you can get a 8800 card, get it. It might be a little above your price range - not sure, because it depends where you are and stuff. If there's nothing in the neighborhood, try newegg - I've attached a link.|||I don't think you need to upgrade the GPU. I think it's great. You just need to buy a better CPU, and switch to Vista.

What is the best video card for a Dell XPS?

I need to know the best video card out there right now for a Dell XPS its blue and i dont think its the newer version its the older one. about maybe 3-4 years i may be wrong. Well if anyone has a site where i could find one let me know.|||First find out the model graphics card you're using (if you're not sure, google "SIW"; it's a standalone executable so it doesn't need to install to run)

19. X1800XT 512MB

20. 7900GT 256MB

Those are the top 20 graphics cards..

PS: Make sure you have either an AGP or PCI-Express slot; original PCIs are outdated and obsolete! Might as well buy a new computer if your slots are old!|||basically you can put in any video card you want. it all depends on what you need and how much you want to spend.

<100

8500gt has direct x so its future proof but cannot do intensive video editing or gaming on hi res

100-150

7900gs or 7600 gt best you can get for under 200 great for video editing and gaming on highest settings but will not run dx10 games or dx10 features on vista so will require replacement when dx10 becomes more widespread

250+

8800gt

second best out there runs dx 10 and faster than the cards above. will hold you at the top for 1-2 yrs and will still work for a while after if you can accept lower settings

300+

8800gts

best out there

would not reccomend radeon but thats a personal opinion. it also seems that geforce is churning the cards out quicker so their bang for the buck is greater. benchmarks also seem to support geforce being superior.

ex. 7900gs and 7600gt beating out the x1900

overall if your computers 3-4 yrs old i dont think youre gaming or doing very intensive stuff. id reccomend the cheapest 8500gt as it will last you well over two yrs for basic functions and medium res gaming. plus theres a deal right now for a 60 dollar 8500gt from xfx|||I run a XPS as a server and it is a 2000 model, generally it is a AGP card, and you can find out in the Accessories, System Resources.

The System information, under the tab, Components, then Video, it will tell you your curent video card, generally the AGP capacity is 2X-4X and you can get 4&8 X cards, I have seen some up to 128mg, I have a 64mg.

You can get a PCI card about the same memory level, and all run between $35-80, I am a MCSE and A+ tech in Canada, I get parts here from discount dealers, and have done installs with those type of cards.

I have a new acer PC wih an ATI 2100 video card I want another, but do I get a PCI-e, or an AGP or what?

I have a new acer PC wih an ATI 2100 video card I want another, but do I get a PCI-e, or an AGP or what?

THe card is not running even old games very well|||What model of machine?

You need to look at your owner's manual or online at acer to see if your particular machine model has an available PCI-e x16 slot, or an AGP slot.

OK, your machine is probably a M1200 not an MI200

If so it has one PCI-e x16 slot. Keep in mind that the powersupply is probably too wimpy for a high end video card, and likely will not have a PCI-e power connector for the card.|||You are going to have to give us more information.

There is no way for us to know what you need by just telling us you have "a new acer".

We need the model number of the PC.|||Your motherboard has onboard video and 1 PCI-E slot.

No AGP. So just about any PCI-E card will work.|||PCI-E!, agp is an old slot and only found on older computers.|||just to make sure.. goonline to Acer.com and look up your pc..it will tell you which slots it comes with

Need help installing a video card?

I have an old computer from 2003 or 4. I have a really nice monitor for it, and i'd like to run it through VGA, but the video card in the computer, so what video card should I install into it?|||SORRY YOUR QUESTION DOESNT REALLY MAKE SENSE. VGA IS THE OLDER STYLE STANDARD DEFINITION OUTPUT THAT HAS COME STANDARD WITH COMPUTERS SINCE THE MID 90'S. IT IS 15-PIN AND NORMALLY BLUE IN COLOR

I THINK WHAT YOU MEAN IS THAT SINCE YOUR MONITOR IS REAL NICE YOU WANT A HIGH-DEF CARD WHICH USES A DVI OUTPUT CONNECTION (NORMALLY WHITE IN COLOR). BEING THAT YOUR PC IS SOMEWHAT OLD, IT PROBABLY ONLY HAS PCI SLOTS. SO YOU SHOULD PURCHASE A VIDEO CARD THAT HAS DVI OUTPUT AND IS PCI. (NOT PCIE OR PCIX !!!!!

I was thinking of getting a 4890 Radeon video card for my PC?

I have a 4850 in there now. My questions are;

1. Would I get much of a performance gain?

2. Is there anything different about the 4890 that might make it incompatible with my PC? Is the card much larger, or does it require a different connection than the 4850?|||The 4890s are a similar size to the 4850/4870, as more are produced then size range will grow as well (think silent coolers, CrossfireX configuration etc).

To be honest why would you want to upgrade now? 4890s have only been out a little while, give it a few more months for the price to drop a bit and some better variations to be made available to the general public.

The speed difference and performance improvement is around 15% over the 4850 but for the cost its not worth it yet.

the 48XX series of cards are rocking and AMD are rightfully proud of them, they are just a bit price heavy at the moment.

Remember getting a better graphics card is not always the answer especially if you have bottlenecks elsewhere in your system (such as RAM or processor).|||The question you should ask yourself before upgrading is: Is this necessary? Did you recently purchase a new game or a new monitor with a very high resolution and are you now noticing low framerates which adversely affect your ability to game?

If not, then stick with the 4850 until you do feel it's necessary to upgrade. This way you save money and end up with a better upgrade when the time comes.

If you do feel it's time to upgrade, then the 4890 could be a good choice. Although I feel the 4870 is a better value in terms of performance per dollar. Still, the 4870 may not be a big enough upgrade to warrant the cost over the 4850 you have currently. You may even want to go higher than the 4890, depending upon your budget.

Or just wait until prices come down or a new product is released - the HD5800s should be coming along later this year with support for DX11, and engineering samples of the 40nm process are already out. So there are some nice potential upgrades on the horizon.|||There will be a performance gain but probably not enough to warrant the cost of the new card. If you can you'd get a lot better performance doing a CrossFire setup with a second 4850. Otherwise just wait until the next generation of cards come out.|||They require the same connection which is a Pcie x16 slot. 1.0 or 2.0

If you have the 512mb 4850, then you will see a notable ability to run higher graphical settings.

I recently got a video card, and it has a mini Hdmi port and a couple of Dvi ports?

what are these ports good for since the video card will be inside my computer what can i use these ports for?|||your mini HDMI can be used for a High Def camcorder. My Sony uses that. So does my EVO Shift. Not sure about the Dvi but that might be Digital video input. There might also be a digital out like an RCA type plug. This is for Home Theatre. :)|||They're for... Isn't it obvious? The HDMI and DVI ports on video cards are meant for plugging monitors into. The card's panel won't be inside the computer.

I'm starting to think you carelessly bought the card and don't even know if you have a PCI-E slot or if you have enough power for it.|||They could be internal connections for case ports, like the front headphone jack and usb.

How do lI change or replace the video card on a gateway computer build in 2002?

I do not see where a video card sets with how the mother board is set.|||The card is probably built into the chipset and can be disabled in the BIOS. You will need to install the correct video card before doing this, AGP, PCI, PCI-e, ISA, ect. ISA is a little out dated for your computer.

Being built in that means you can't remove it, so you have to install one, disable the old one and start using the new one that you plugged into the graphics slot. All this would be something you do in the BIOS.

Check out your BIOS before changing anything to see what you can do in there.|||Circuit city is offering free computer checks. Take it to them they are great computer doctors. They even give you qoutes on the cost of repair.

Is my Dell Dimension DIM9100 compatible for a PCI Express video card?

What video card does my computer take?

Hey guys I use the HP Xeon XW6000 gaming computer, it has 5.6Ghz CPU, 2 GB of RAM and a Nvidia geforce4 XW420, I need to know what type of video cards this computer takes ie: AGP (I know it doesn't take AGP's because I tried inserting my 6600gt into this new pc and it bleeped 3 times and wouldn't load up the BIOS etc.) Please help :)|||hi mate

the problem when using the agp bus interface is that unlike the newer pci-express bus agp has around 6 or 7 different versions/types and since most of them are not backwards compatible it can be a minefield when upgrading a agp card in some cases

there are two most common agp types and the main one is the agp x8 and this uses a agp 1.5v slot....this is what any agp card made in the last 5 years would use allthough some also use the next most popular type the agp 3.3v slot and any card that supports this slot wont work in the agp 1.5v slot

however if we go further back there are other types of agp including agp universal and agp pro...with the universal having just one long slot were as the newer agp slots have two slots (0ne small and one large)

in regards to the post error beeps you are experiencing well this can be for many reasons ,and this includes incorrect bios video setting( change the default video settings in "intergrated peripherals" from onboard to agp....however you may also need to change the setting "init display first" which is a bios setting unique to agp based motherboards and informs the bios from what video device to boot from...obviously your option would be agp

another reason could be a problem with the actual agp bus(slot) and this can include incorrectly inserted or a cable trapped near the agp slot

and then theres also the agp aperture size, which should be set to either 64mb or 128mb(normally half the size of your cards memory)...try changing this and see if it helps

however one of the most common reasons for post beeps when installing a graphic card is because you havent connected the power connector to the card, and in the case of the 6600gt this is normally a standard 4pin molex connector...if you dont connect this the bios will alert you by beeping 3 times ( depending on bios version)....simply connect the required power connector and restart the pc

if you have connected the power connector to the card it may be that the power connector you are using is faulty so try using a alternative molex and see if that works

i hope this helps, any problems let me know

good luck mate !

Best Low profile video card for my pc?

I have a Dell optiplex GX 620.

Specs are: Intel Pentium 4 / 1Gi of ram / Windows Xp pro.

Since its a slim design Pc I am looking for a low profile video card, even better if it comes with the low profile bracket(s). I am looking to spend between $75-$120

If you can suggest a good low pro card it would be very helpful, thanks.|||This actually depends o the type of slot that's available on your motherboard. After some searches I found that most of them have a PCI-E slot so you could probably actually go with a higher end budget card like the Nvidia 8600. The only concern here is whether or not you actually have enough space in your computer to house this card with enough airflow to keep it cool.

What I recommend is going on newegg.com and looking at cards from Nvidia's 7000 and 8000 series and checking the dimensions of each card under the specifications tab. Once you find one that will fit be sure to buy a PCI slot fan to go along with it. The PCI slot fan will be set under your video card and pull out a good amount of hot air to keep your system cool.|||xfx geforce 8600 gts|||I am afraid only ATI Radeon makes these slim cards that can fit inside those Shuttle cases and/or those Hi-Fi media center look-alike boxes (square-flat)

The fastest methinks is the x700 but I mite be wrong.

I am certain that there are 9250s because I have fitted some myself.

GPU and video card the same?

I was just curious if these are the same thing, I've looked at different pictures and different descriptions, but can't seem to figure it out. Is the GPU the video card?|||Yes it means the same thing.|||The GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) is a component of the video card. They're not the same but are often used interchangeably.

It would be like saying the CPU and motherboard are the same thing.|||Yeah, it's the exact same thing. It's just that people back in the day used to call them video cards.|||Basically yes.

It's the same as CPU and processor.

How to get HP pavilion to recognize video card.?

The on-board vga connector broke away from motherboard. Tried to bypass to video card but comp. doesn't recognise new card. Cant get into bios or anything without a screen. Is there a way to disarm on-board vga with jumpers? The board is an asus m2n68-la. The vga is a nVidia GeForce 6150se|||Onboard VGA connector broke away from the motherboard? That connector is required to complete a circuit path in your motherboard. I hate to say it, but you need a new motherboard.

Is it hard to install a zalman vf900 on my radeon 3850 video card?

My card goes up to 70 degrees Celsius when i play games. So im thinking of purchasing the zalman vf900, but this is the first time im going to install something like that...i was just wondering if it was hard to install.|||Extremely hard!! Better just give me the card, and the Zalman cooler! I'll make my way through it somehow,(draggin' his feet, head down) LOL! Naa, it's no problem! You can do it!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as… See the little flat legs that stick out? These have holes in them,(see it?) There are sheet metal type screws that go through these holes, and screw in-between the fins on the heatsink on your vid card. Be careful, that the screw aren't too long,(I doubt they are, I'm just a worry-wort!), and do not bear down when installing. In otherwords do not overtighten! They will go down between the fins with no problem, but when you get to the last thread, you can strip it, so just be careful with the last of the tightening.

How to Update the driver for your video card and Audio card? Explain it very clearly please.?

The pc will automatically do the updating.

Repeat the same with your audio card.

When your done just close all the open windows & it's best to usually restart your pc so that the updates take affect.Good luck.|||The previous answer for your question is good. Just on change. Instead of going through all the girations to get to device manager, just click Start then Run and type devmgmt.msc click ok or hit the enter key, you will be in device manager. Then follow the rest of the instructions on the previous post.

Power supply/video card questions with my Dell XPS Gen 5?

I currently have a ATI 256mb X850 platinum video card. I have 4gb of DDR SDRAM, dual pentium 830 (3.0GHz) (this is better than a pentium 4 right?). Anyways, my ATI card conflicts with a few things so I need to replace it with a Nvidia card. I'm trying to figure out a few things and need some help.

I haven't been able to find out my pc's power supply. I've spoken to 3 different dell reps and they don't know. I looked inside the pc and everywhere else and I just can't find any stickers or anything. Is there any software that can find this out for me?

Also, my gen 5 can only have 460 or 650 power supply. So, if I have a 460 could I just replace it with the 650? I didn't see any way to get into the power supply. Anyone know where I can buy this power supply?

Also, I have a three 5 pin connector PCI fan that seems to be on the fritz. It's held in place by some Dell plastic piece. Would I need to buy the exact same one or do I have any choices?|||Dell uses proprietary hardware.

Hence you probably can't just buy any PSU and connect it to your XPS. I'll bet the pin layout is even different.

Your option is to upgrade to Dell's 650 Watt PSU.

For the fans , as long as you get the right size you can probably replace those easily.

Im getting a new video card, Why do people say download the drivers online?

Im getting a new video card for christmas, It comes with the drivers on a disk.

But why do people say download the drivers online from the makers of the video card, rather than use the disk?

Thanks,

Matt|||The CD's were pressed long before the cards were finished, and God knows how long it had been sitting on a shelf or in transit between factory and store. So you can be sure the driver on the CD is DEFINITELY old and outdated.

KEEP OUT! Trespassers will be violated!|||driver update so fast the drivers on the disc are often not the newest - and the newest drivers will have fixes for spesific problems that arise in new games and such. Generally its beneficial to have the newest drivers for that reason.

But its not imperative - certainly the card will generelly work fine with the disc drivers too.

-Stigma|||The company selling your card don't regularly update the drivers for the your card. They might sell a batch of 200,000 over a three month period. This means your driver could be months out of date. You benefit from the new drivers, greater reliability, speed and compatibility|||Because the ones online are the most current. If you load from the disk you are still going to have to go online to update the drivers anyways.|||Online drivers are updated all the time. Disk drivers are old and will always be the same.

Can I open my computer to add a "video card", if the computer has warranty?

I have a "Emachine et1831-07", not too long since I bought it, but i payed for the warranty. And I heard that some products like an iPod or xbox can't be open with warranties in them, because your warranty will expire or be cancel because you have open the product... and I was wondering if I could open my PC just to add a Video Card in it with no problem on losing my warranty...???|||Yes, you can open it and loose your warrenty.|||This is how it works.

The warranty covers the computer in the configuration that it was purchased.

If you add a video card, the computer is still covered under the warranty but if there is a problem you will have to remove the video card and make sure the problem still exists before you can expect them to touch it under the warranty.|||Yeah, you come, warranty doesn't covers the video card part, and it can added easily to the system|||Not sure. Ask at the shop where you bought it.|||Yes.

When I play DVDs on my widescreen monitor, the picture quality's not as good! Even with a new video card?

I have recently purchased a 22" widescreen LCD monitor and upgraded my video/graphics card to reach the monitor's maximum resolution of 1680x1050. However, when I play a DVD, I couldn't get the "cinematic, studio quality" promised by the new video card. Am I missing some drivers, or should I lower my resolution, or is the DVD just of poor quality to start with? Please help as I'm getting quite frustrated. Thanks!|||Check the DVD drive. It may not be reading properly.Clean the lens or replace, I hope it solves the problem.

Good luck.|||Poor Quaity Moniter|||Your problem may be with what you are expecting from your dvd player.

If your dvd player in not one of the new HD players, the upgraded video card and monitor is not going to display anything more than the resolution that is coming from the dvd player. (this is typically around 480p, but check your dvd drive to make sure)

If you are not using a scan converter or something similar, you will get the best picture by setting your equipment to the same resolution.|||Sounds like you need a better video card. If its a new card be sure and download the latest drivers off the net. Perhaps those resolutions are too heavy for the card.

Different manufacturer with the same video card?

This has confused me for a while. ATI has different manufacturers like: VisionTek, Diamond, Best Data?, Sapphire. What's with that? Also, which one(s) make good-quality cards? (Which one should I buy from?...) I'm planning to buy a newer card so...yeah.|||ask around and find which company has the best return and warranty policy. thats about the only difference.

What kind of video card brand can a pci bus support?

i saw in the device manager that my bus is pci. what video card is ok for that bus: nvidia or asus? or suggest me any please. (sure hope a miracle comes to answer all of my questions)|||It's not a question about brand, it's just the interface.

Are you 100% sure your motherboard does not have a PCIE 16x slot?

Go find out from your motherboard's spec sheet or manual.

>nvidia or asus?

There are 2 main companies which produce graphics chips.

Nvidia (which produces Geforce cards)

ATi (which produces Radeon cards)

The other brands that you hear of, such as GIGABYTE, ASUS, XFX, and so on are manufacturers.

They simply produce the cards that the chips sit on, and then package and label it. They do not make the graphics processing unit.

However they are all identical because the design and blueprint of the cards is given by the chip maker (Nvidia or ATi). These manufacturers must follow the designed given to them by ATi or Nvidia.

The cards are only different in subtle ways that don't really impact how the card performs (though in some occasions the cards can be factory overclocked and made to run better than it was originally designed to, but overclocking can be done by the end user anyway).

Case in point: Brands don't matter. It's all about the interface.|||Well, I don't think straight PCI video cards are made anymore ^_^

However, I can't determine what you have from that information. Do you have the model or brand of your computer? Or perhaps the model or brand of your motherboard (that you should be able to get from the Device manager)|||Probably if you dig deep in newegg you might find an nvidia MX250 works fine for me and fits in PCI.

It can run 3D games like Team Fortress 2 and Portal.Make sure it has at least direct X10 to work it to it's best graphical ability :)|||First off, are you sure its just a PCI? Not a PCIe? PCIe x16?

Secondly, There are two Chipset Manufactures: nVidia and ATI. Companies like Asus, EVGA, MSI, and XFX make cards with those chipsets. Your computer can use any kind of Chipset/Manufacture as long as the interface is correct (Interface = PCI, PCIe, PCIe x16). Brands don't matter, they're just personal opinion.

If you only have a regular PCI slot on your motherboard then there is no real good graphics cards out there. You can check out www.newegg.com for graphics cards or provide more information and you might get some actual help.|||Desktop Graphics / Video Cards > Interface : PCI 64 Results

PCI graphics were superseded by AGP graphics which were superseded by PCI Express x16 graphics. Your PC must be an old model.

2) check the power requirements of the card, the label on your power supply lists its specs.

Can bad ram cause a video card to crash when running a 3d application?

My games kept crashing but i could not find a single fix for it. After many calls to EVGA they told me to check the ram. I removed one stick and then booted up and once again it crashed. I then alternated ram sticks and now i've been playing CS:S for more than 1 hour without a single crash. Can faulty ram make video drivers and games crash?|||Yes it does make system crash if ram problem.

If gaming problem, a lots of factors also... Such as graphic drivers, directx and etc.

In order to check RAM, u should put only one RAM and test. Then remove it and put the other RAM and test again.|||I would guess that they meant see if you have enough RAM. I upgrade my RAM to the computers capacity. My Laptop came with 1GB but can take 2 so I added another 1GB, same with my Desktop, upped the Ram to 4GB. Everything will work better and faster. If you already have the most RAM your computer can hold then clean up your hard drive for space and delete any programs you won't use. Hope this helps!

Would a better graphics card increase the video quality of movies and cable from TV tuner?

I have a HD TV tuner thats suppose to be "HD" but the video comes out very blurry and low quality and I'm guessing its because my computer has a cheap integrated graphics card so I was wondering if getting a better graphics card solve the problem? maybe like a 9600GT|||it should. if your IGP is terrible you'll notice an immediate improvement when you switch to a discrete graphics processor. Can I use a Samsung 32" Widescreen TV Monitor with an Nvidia Video Card.?

What would be the best compatible video card for a 1366 X 768 Resolution (720p Display) model TV?|||i would say definitely go with an EVGA 9800GTX for a lower price range, but if you want something nice i would go with a GTX260.

Older cards do not have HDMI, so careful when you buy your card so you know it can hook up to your TV.

Good Luck!

Would a new video card be enough?

Hello, my system specs are

CPU: intel core 2 quad @2.40Ghz

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 7350 LE

RAM: 3 GB

OS: Vista home :(

If I upgraded my video card would that be enough to play very new games on my computer? If so can you recommend a video card that is not overly expensive?|||Probably not. Today's nVidia cards are the 9xxx series. If you're still using your stock power supply unit (PSU), it's probably only 350 watts. That would work for a 9400GT, but that card isn't a gamer. The 9500GT and 9600GT both need a 400 watt or greater PSU, with the 9500 being a little better than the 9400 and the 9600 being considerably better than the 9500. The 9500 isn't much of a game card, so in my opinion, the gaming cards start at 9600. Then there's the 9800, that is a lot better than the 9600. The 9800 needs a 400-450 watt or greater power supply with a 24 amp +12v rail, depends on the maker of the card. SLI may need 550 watts with a 30 amp +12 volt rail. You'll need to check the specs for the card you choose to make sure. After the 9800, you're into the big money cards, and they're all good.

Another point to consider is the amount of space available inside your system for a decent graphics card. The better cards may not use two slots on your motherboard, but they occupy almost as much space. If you have a slim tower case, space will be at a premium, and you may be limited to a low profile card.

Bottom line is, to put a decent gaming card in, you'll need a PSU that can support it. Not all PSU's are the same though, there are 400 watt PSU's that have a 30 amp +12 rail. That 30 amp rail can power two 9800's in SLI. Here's an example.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Here's a 9600GT with the best specs I could find.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

There are different grades of 9800, GT, GTX, GTX+ and GX2(SLI). You'll need to search those yourself, some come with games or rebates or both.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis…

It's easy to pick a winner or loser when it comes to graphics cards or power supplies, just make sure to check the specs and read the reviews for each before making a purchase.|||yes

the CPU is quite quick and the RAM is enough

a graphics card upgrade will help you out a lot, just make you get one that is compatible

email me if you need more help|||As long as your power supply and motherboard support that video card.|||i think i have the same computer as you, and i think your graphics card is the problem.

although, going by other nvidea geforce graphics cards (the higher the number, the better the card),this one may look good and powerful, but this one is built into your motherboard, and therefore drains power from the motherboard and is not as powerful as it says on the box.

you cannot remove one of these graphics cards, however you can put a new one in and it will override the built in graphics card (note it wont work in synchronisation, its either one or the other).

I have had this problem, but i went to CEX (a 2nd hand software and media shop) and bought a NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT + 1gb. Basically, it has 1 gb of ram, and with this card i can play crysis and crysis warhead on relatively high settings, as i was this morning. hope this helps|||Yes, a GPU upgrade would be enough.

Is my computer compatible with a AGP 64MB Video Card?

How do I update my video card?

I have a Radeon 9200 SE on a Home XP system. The reason why I'm updating is so I can get Sims 3 to run. Can I just update the current video card I have now, or will I have to buy a new one?

I've done a lot of searching for the past hour and I can't find any updates for my specific video card. Any help is greatly appreciated.|||I don't know the specs of that card or the specs for Sims3, but if you want to update your video card, you will have to buy a new one and install it!|||It's a little more complicated than that, I'm afraid. All the 9200SE's that I've been able to find are discontinued AGP cards, with either low 64MB or 128MB memory. They are pretty much useless as far as running games like Sims3.

Further, you say nothing about your pc specs, so we can't even guess if you can improve your graphics performance with a modern PCI-Express graphics card. So no, you still cannot run games.|||Probably not!|||No You Cant..You Need Graphic card to run games..

How to fix video card compatibility issue?

Just bought a Radeon hd 5450 graphics card and after doing some research I figured out that despite the fact that they say pci express is backwards compatible, this graphics card which is pci-e 2.1 doesn't work in the intel 915 series pci-e 1.0, which is my motherboard (D915GAV to be exact). Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? p.s. I have already tried updating my BIOS and that does nothing.|||between pci-e 1 and 2.1 there are not only software diffrences but hardware diffrences, like 2.1 having have twice the bandwidth. no pcie 2.1 card will work in 1.0 the only thing you can do is get an older card or a newer motherboard

Is it possible to setup a computer as a video card its self with the right programming?

old computer as a video card|||Not sure entirely what you mean by this. I'm assuming you mean because new video cards these days have a processor and their own ram dedicated on the card? So you must be assuming that one could take an old computers processor, motherboard, and ram and make a video card out of it?

Not really... soldering and all sorts of stuff would have to be changed, as well as components on the motherboard to give you video card functionality... and then firmware and video drivers on top of that after... THEN you would have to find out how to connect what you've just created to the system you want it to be a video card in. Much better just buying a video card.

You CAN, however, take a video card out of an old system and put it in a new system assuming its got the right port (PCI, AGP, or PCIexpress) unless it is an onboard video.|||Yeah it would be cool... I always like finding neat little projects to play around with sometimes just to see if I can do it.

The reason being that while the interface is the same, most motherboards do not yet support the 2.0 technology.

Think of it like the difference between usb 1.1 and 2,0. If you plug a usb 2,0 device into a 1.1 slot it will function, but not at 2,0 speeds.

the difference is that the pcie problem could theoretically be fixed with software, such as new firmware, or bios updates, possibly even as simple as driver updates.

Maybe the mobo manufacturers will get on this and we can all soon see just what it will take to get our mobos up to speed.

I am buying a new video card to upgrade dell optiplex gx620, I just need to know if a Sapphire Radeon 5450 1GB video card is compatible with is.|||That PC has a vacant x16 PCIe graphics expansion slot. The HD 5450 is not awesome but a significant upgrade to the anemic onboard graphics. And the HD 5450 should not stress your PC's power supply because it only draws 19 Watts max.|||Link in sources shows that your system supports full height video cards. Have you looked inside to make sure you are getting the right size? (lo-pro vs. full)

As far as power requirements it looks like you need to look at the sticker on your power supply and see what the output is. Some optiplexes have a 240W while some others have a 305W and there may be some other sizes too. Either way there are a couple other makers with the 5450 that recommend 350W and 400W power supplies.

Its in the Benchmarking section|||Right click "My Computer" choose "Properties" "Device Manager" "Display Adapters" and it should give you a model number (for example, mine says "ATI 4800 series"). Google that number and it will tell you all about it.

Considering you're afraid to open your computer, I'm guessing you didn't build it, so it's probably got onboard video. DDR on your video card doesn't matter, it doesn't have to match with your system DDR, they're on completely different busses, and have nothing to do with each other.|||GPUz http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/|||To change video card ( graphics card ) you need not bother about the type of memory the video card is using. The only thing you have to check is the slot type like pci-express, agp etc. The motherboard memory type and graphics card memory type can be different.

What is the typical memory capacity of a high end video card?

and how does the memory effect the quality of the video?|||Two things. There's the memory, than the memory bus-width. For example, there's the 7600gt 256mb ram/128-bit. Than there's the 7800gt 256mb ram/256-bit. The latter destroys the former.

If you want to game at a resolution of 1600x1200 and lower than all you need is 512mb ram/256-bit, which most, mid-range/high end cards are.

The 8800gt was considered High-end 6 months ago, and was around $225. Today you can find it for $99-125, and it still kicks but.

Here is some information you can read on Video cards that will turn you into a Video card Expert.......

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_…

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_…

after you skim those, it should make it more clear. When it shows the Memory MHZ/Speed in the charts, you have to multiply those by 2 to get their 'Effective' speeds. So a card that says 600mhz core/900mhz memory, is really 600mhz core/1800mhz 'effective' memory.

There are a few more factors you have to think about. It's called Shader Processors, those are just as important as memory. I don't know much about that topic, but I know the more the better. There is also the MHZ/Speed of the GPU and what DirectX number they are.

DirectX 10 is the newest program/version. Newer cards are capable of this. DirectX10 is the successor to DirectX9 and so on. It allows programmers to add better graphics that the cards can render.

I'm getting confused now after all of this so I'll just stop there.

But to answer your question....

512mb, 768mb, 896mb and 1024mb.

It doesn't 'effect' the video quality of movies, or a of video games. It allows you to crank the graphics up higher and play at higher resolutions, so the game looks 'crisper'. You can use a low end 8600gt to play video games and HD/Blu-ray movies. You can also play a game with medium settings, medium resolutions. If you used a high end card to play that same game with medium settings and medium resolution, both games would look exactly the same. However, your frames per second would be lower on the 8600gt. Your Eyes can't notice anything below 30frames per second, so if an 8600gt can't play assassins creed at 1280x1024 and high settings above 30fps, than you will get a terrible/choppy gaming experience, than you pick up a GTX 280 and your game is going to play at a much higher resolution and a much higher graphics settings with well over 30fps.

Here is a link to sort of figure out what Frames per Second is all about. Those charts are time frames and during intense battles and graphics situations it puts strain on the cards and lowers the FPS, so you will notice 'DROPS' in the FPS(frames per second). A low end card would register at the bottom of those charts, and if it dips below 30fps all the time, it won't be much fun to play.

TADA!

Just recently Nvidia released the GTX series. 260/280. They come with 1024/512-bit bus. and 896/444-bit bus. This is meant for higher resolutions such as 1920x1200 and 2500x1600(30" display).

You also have to consider the processor you have. If you only have a Pentium 4 3.0ghz with an 8800gt, your game might only be 50 frames per second, because the processor can't supply the video card with enough info. If you get a Core 2 Duo and overclock it to 4.0ghz, it will let the video card show it's true potential and you could get 150fps in the exact same game with the exact same settings.

On the flipside is ATI, the 'other' video card manufacturer. They just released the 4870 and 4850. They only have 512mb, and a 256-bit bus. However, the 4870 comes with GDDR5 memory, so it's clocked at 3600mhz (effective) so the smaller memory/bus-width is able to keep up with the Nvidia cards at higher resolution.

6 months ago, high end was the 8800gtx/8800gts g92 core, 9800gx2, and the 3870x2(basically two cards on one chip). These cards were $500 bucks. Now you can find them for $199.

The king of the hill now is the 4870x2, 2 GPU die's on one card(2-in-1) and the GTX 280. Both are the top cards for NVIDIA and ATI.

The video card market it so sweet right now, because with these two monsters being released, the old high end cards are dropping in prices like nobody's business.|||1 GB and it won't effect video quality|||512 - 1 GB is typical for performance video cards.

Higher amounts of video RAM are used for caching textures and graphical elements - this is mostly used by 3-D game programs. So more Video RAM helps the programs which are designed to use it, and will make little or no difference to most programs, which are not designed to exploit it.|||This type of hardware change rapidly. Today, people would typically get 512MB on their video cards. However, 1GB would be the typical in 6 months, so today it is 1GB I'd say for the highest performance. This memory is like RAM. The more memory you have the better your game will run. For example if a game uses a lot of Video RAM and you don't have enough the game will run real slow, or sometimes it won't even start. What would affect the quality of the video is more likely the chip of the video card, if it doesn't support the graphics it won't be able to show the rendering of the models, or objects. But, as talking of the memory size, I'd say that it would only affect speed. Although, you have to see that the card is compatible with the game or that it supports the game. Because although you have 1gb of memory in the video card, and the card doesn't support the game, the lots of memory will be useless.

I bought a new video card online how do i remove the old one?

my brother told me that installing video cards yourself is simple and after watching some online videos i believe him but my question is in all the videos it shows where they are installing the new cards on the PCI-e but not where the old ones are. i opened up my case and found where the new card should go but the one im currently using isn't there is it Integrated in the computer someway if its the one it came with? its a 82945g express chip set family do i have to remove it some other way and how?|||No, you don't need to remove it, and you can't anyway.

Chipsets aren't graphics cards, they're just simply microchips stuck directly into the motherboard.

Just plug your graphics card into the right slot and you'll be good to go.|||Make sure your Computer is unplugged, push your card into the slot until it is seated fully. Tighten Screw holding Card in place. Some cards require a power plug from your power supply, some do not.

After start up your computer will see that a card has been installed. often you need to install or download a Video card driver for the card. If your using Vista it may look for the driver automatically, or you may have to go into windows update and it will offer it to you. If you are using XP you may need to look for the latest driver. ATi cards can be found at ati.amd.com, look under Drivers, follow directions and download the Catalyst Suite.|||Since your current graphics card is a part of the motherboard you don't have to do anything. Just plug in the new card, plug your monitor into the card, then you are good to go. Your computer should automatically recognize and use the new graphics card.|||All you have to do is plug it in. Then there should be a couple options on the screen when you start it up.|||That is integrated, there is nothing to remove, just put the video card in and enjoy it..

Does my video card strong enough to view and edit hd video?

I own a gateway mt3421 laptop and am considering buying a canon vixia hf10. If I get it then will it be able to support viewing and editing hd video? My video card is a NVIDIA GeForce Go 6100 TurboCache supporting 256MB|||Your video card has almost no effect on editing video.

What makes a game run slow? Does it run slow if your pc has a slower CPU or low video card?

It must be one of them, because i played JUST CAUSE 2 and it had both of them less and it ran slow. Im hoping the answer to be LOW VIDEO CARD 0_o|||Both of them are strong factors in running a game smoothly. But don't forget the RAM. It also important. If your RAM is low, even using a high end CPU or graphic card doesn't help that much.

Of course I can say that most of the times it is about graphic card.|||There are multiple variables that can cause a game to run slow. First off, make sure that your computer meets the minimum requirements to run the game. If your system just meets the minimum, you should upgrade your components to probably double the minimum requirements for the best experience. If it is a graphics heavy game, you will need a good graphics card. If you purchased a cheap $300 laptop or desktop, then you need to upgrade your graphics card; you will also need more ram/memory than the system came with. If you are playing a game online, then you will need a fast internet connection so the game doesn't lag. Another issue might be that you have several computers on your network using much of the internet bandwidth in your location, you will get a slower connection.

It would probably help if you said what your computer specifications are, and what game(s) you are having trouble playing.|||A poor video card will have a greater impact on a game's performance. For example, as an experiment I put an ATI Radeon HD4870 into a PC with a single core Pentium4 HT 3.6GHz processor. Previously this machine had a Radeon X600 and wasn't capable of playing five year old games properly. (UT, Serious Sam, etc). With the HD4870 it was able to play Crysis, and just about any other modern game that I tried on it. Admittedly the 4870 didn't perform as well as it does with a Core2Quad Q6600 but it shows what a poor processor can achieve in combination with a good graphics card.|||Both are needed to play games. Have a small amount of ram, or slow ram or a slow hardrive can slow games too. What are your computer specifications? If you have no idea, then go to start then run in xp, or if you are using vista, then just use the search thing at the start menu. Type in dxdiag.exe, and it will tell you everything.|||Actually, it depends on the Random Access Memory Card(RAM) for the loading part....

your CPU also plays a part in the speed of the games...

your Video Card Only enhances the quality of the game... it has nothin to do with the speed at which stuff loads during the game, ofcource its not possible to play many games without the video card..

increase your Ram or change the processor of your CPU....|||Main things that affect speed of computer.

*Hard drive: if your hard drive has a small capacity or is almost full

*CPU: you need to get a 2Ghz+ , maybe intel i5

*RAM: One of the main reasons. Get more RAM, preferably 2GB-4GB+

*1GB Graphics Card|||Go to canyourunit.com and it will tell you what's slowing you down. It's really anybody's guess as you didn't give any information about your system but it's generally RAM, CPU or the video card's fault.|||This question would be much easier to answer if you actually told us what CPU and GPU you're using.|||The game run slow because your system is slow

Probably got an old *** Pentium 4

Recommended choices to keep video card cool?

I have a Radeon X1650 512ram (agp) and it works fine. I just learned that its idle temp sits around 62C and I would like to have this lowered. I've worked on lowering cpu temperatures before but never a video card, so for those folks who also have ATI cards, which products would you recommend for keeping it cool as well? (have one slot open next to the video card, but the backside seems to get hot and theres no room to put anything there.)|||62 isn't bad. Only worry if it gets above 80 or so. You could try a pci slot cooler, or install an aftermarket heatsink on the card. Installing a heatsink is tricky though. Make sure you have good airflow through your case. You should have a fan sucking in the front and a fan blowing out the back.

It is also a good idea to have a side panel fan blowing in, onto the video card.|||the 9800 x2 pwns all. Good cards though would be the 8800 serious GT ultra and gtx.|||liquid cooling ftw

Is it the video card that was damaged?

i'd crashed my computer and the video on the monitor turned out. the blinking LED on my monitor flashes. the problem is not on my monitor. it is in my RAM or Video card. i inserted the ram multiple times and still doesn't work. is it the video card that was damaged?|||did u replace da ram wit a new one. your in the right track of troubleshooting whats wrong with your PC. other factors can be bad motherboard, cpu, power supply or bad vga cables.

Which Video/Graphics Card Works Best For This?

I have an Acer AX3200-U3630A mini Desktop computer. The computer is great and the specs are awesome, but I need a video card that can satisfy my gamer needs!

I've heard about low-profile video cards that feature the GeForce GT series. Are they compatible with the Acer? If not, what can?|||You'd better choose the ATi HD 4650 , around $100 but it is really a great deal.

With Geforce GT, I think it should be 7600 at the same price, but less performance than 4650.

Is not having enough system RAM causing my poor video card performance?

I've noticed that running my computer display at 32-bit causes poor performance out of my video card when compared with 16-bit color. Does video card RAM or system RAM improve this? My video card is a Geforce 6200 AGP with 256 MB of onboard RAM.

Overall my system is a 2.4 GHz P4 with 512 MB PC 3200 system RAM.|||If you are running with screen resolution of 1024x768 and using 32 bits of resolution, each frame requires 25,165,824 bits of storage. Given 8 bits/byte, that allows about 80 frames to be buffered. That would seem to be enough video memory.

You say that your frame rate doubles when going from thirty two bit to sixteen bit quantization. Well, that's half the bits and a direct linear relationship between speed and number of bits! That tells me that the bottleneck is the processing speed of the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) itself.

The Geforce 6200 AGP has a passively cooled GPU. From Overclocker Cafe, "Priced at $69, the Inno3D GeForce 6200A draws from two different audiences. One of cost effectiveness and one out of want to get their HTPCs to operate as silently as humanly possible. This is why we are able to recommend the GeForce 6200A to the AGP masses that constitute these two groups."

More system RAM certainly won't hurt and it is cheaper than a high end video card. But, I don't think it will do much to help your frame rate. To do that, I think you'll need a higher-end video card.|||Coming from a Gamers prespective the 6200 is a well, it's crap (other words are banned here). I consider the 6600GT a minimum.

|||Having more of both would help.|||You probably neen more RAM both on your video card as well as your computer.|||No.

there is no (RAM) reason why that card 256MB and your PC with 512MB should be affected at all when switching from 16 to 32-bit color.

what are you doing when it 'causes poor performance' ?

playing a game ?

update: ensure that the Primary adapter in your BIOS is the AGP slot, and that the apeture is whatever the MAX on your board is...upto 256MB that is. also insure that the PCI PALLET snoop is disabled, though it likely already is.

hope this helps.|||double your system RAM, 1024 will speed up your performance no end|||No, there shouldn't be any noticable difference. Having an incorrect driver for your video card, however, may cause this problem. Try installing the latest driver for your card from the manufacturer's website.|||For normal use you should not have a problem. You have more than enough system and video RAM. You may try removing the video driver and re-installing it.

On the other hand, in you are using it for video games, you may have to change the video card for one with much more onboard RAM.

You do have adequate system RAM.

Does the video card have hardware acceleration for free to air TV?

Does NVidia or ATI have video cards with hardware acceleration for HD free to air streams. Does the HD free to air stream need decoding by the CPU or the GPU?|||go to ati dot com or nvidia dot com and find your answers there|||I was at these sites and they dont have an answer/ the people answering my email query dont give an answer other than to say that there is hardware acceleration from the card for BlueRay an HD DVD. Just wondering if it is possible to change a laptop's video card ?

and by the way are there external video cards that could help in a better gaming performance?|||no and no|||Hello

The answer is Yes and No. On some Laptop (IBM Thinkpad) You can buy a Docking station which has room for a new full sized graphics card. So in that example, Yes.

Most laptops use a integrated graphics card that is part of the motherboard so the answer is No. You will have to look up what your upgrade options are for your Laptop.

I cannot tell you unless I know what laptop you have.

One other way, is upgrade your laptop memory, then under the BIOS settings share some extra memory to your video card.

Just found this for you.

http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/video/displ…|||no. the graphics cards on laptops are part of the motherboard, so unless you want to replace your whole motherboard, you cant. and there are no eternal graphics cards that help with gaming.

Can i remove and replace the card that is inserted at the PCI EXPRESS of my CPU to install a video card?

My comp: HP Pavilion a6150d

I opened my CPU and i saw 3 slots there 2 white slots and the other is black, and at the black colored slot there is something inserted in it and i don't know if i may remove it and put a PCI Express graphic card in it.

Is it the integrated graphic card that is installed in my computer?

Can i remove the card and replace with a PCI EXPRESS graphic card?|||that is not your CPU you opened up . It is the case. Now the 2 white slots are PCI . the other is your PCIe . It most likely has a video card pluggeg in it . May have a sound card or anything else for that matter. What is attached to the card ? If it is your monitor then it is your video card. If it is your speakers , sound card . get it ? okay .

now if it is your video or some other you dont need , jsut take out the screw or what ever and plug in the new one .

make sure you turn off the power , unplug it is better. touch the metal case with your haed before touching the card and if you move around to get the new card touch the case again before taking the new card out of the anti static package.|||If theres a card in the pci-express slot, it is your video card. If you wanna replace the existing with new, do it but make sure the new card is compatible with system.|||DAN DAN

i mentioned your name twice a you seem unable to READ what is written.

Ok so the slot at the Top is the Video Slot not the others.

YOU DO Have to be wearing a ZAP Strap when changing the video card as you could easily damage it with static.

Its just a case of disconnecting the computer from the mains supply and turning off the monitor.

If you don't do this you could blow up the video card with static when you take the plug out of the socket on the back.

Pull the old card out and put the new card in fix it down with a screw and reattach the video cable and power up and add the cd/dvd software to the computer as requested by the operating system.

Installing a second video card?

I have a new PC with a Nvidia Geforce 7300 LE 512MB video card and when playing some games at the higher resolutions the framerate still slows down considerably. Someone once told me that it is possible to install a second video card which is solely dedicated to gaming and should improve the frame rate. I don't have much experience in these areas so can anyone help and tell me what I need to buy and if its easy to install?|||That's sort-of true.

Recent NVidia cards support SLI, which allows you to use multiple video cards in a single machine and combine their power to drive a single display. This is rather like having a duel-CPU computer, but for graphics processing rather then general work.

See http://techreport.com/etc/2004q2/nvidia-… for an introduction to the technology and http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone_di… for a HOWTO video.

I believe that both video cards you use need to support the technology though.|||If your Motherboard supports SLi Mode then you will be able to use 2 same maybe different nVidia cards at the same time. You have to put it on SLi mode though.

I was told that all extreme high end graphics cards will not fit. Looking to stay in price max of 250. Help!|||try a 8600gt, it isnt as big as the 8800's and under 200, but get the 512 mb version.

Please let me know...i have that video card..and i dont know which ones will work? So please dont post any links here..please just give me a proper answer! :) thanks!|||That integrated chip will not work for any Sims 2 games. It does not have enough memory. You need at least a 128 MB video card to play the Sims 2 base game.

I know you don't want links but if you lok at this chart it will show you more clearly.

Your chip is first on the list.

Is it possible to upgrade the video card of my dell inspiron laptop?

Is it required to only buy the graphics card at dell company since my laptop is dell?|||It is not necessary to buy a graphics card from Dell even if you own a Dell laptop. Chances are that you will get charged more from Dell. However, if you change the graphics card on your own, you will probably violate the warranty on the laptop. What I would suggest is checking the specifications of the laptop and finding what socket does the graphics card require (and the type, e.g. AGP). You can then hunt for a newer graphics card and their prices on websites such as newegg.com. Also check for graphics card reviews on anandtech.com and Tom's Hardware. I hope that you are comfortable with opening the laptop though, since it can be a pain.

If you are not comfortable with fiddling with laptop hardware, I recommend contacting Dell for the upgrade. In any case, don't forget to back up your data.

Happy gaming!|||You can try the Dell XPS laptops which have loads of horsepower and RAM and video memory. Alienware laptops are also good for gaming and graphics.

|||I have one. It's internal, integrated with the motherboard. Rather rip up chips, get a new motherboard, or get a new laptop. I reccoment the last one. ;)|||Not at all. U can choose to buy it from other software retailers/stores. Please call Dell customer care and ask them which graphic cards ur notebook/desktop can support? Take the list and then buy onli those cards which are in the list. Dell is cheap when u buy a new notebook/desktop. But now as u have already bought ur notebook/desktop, u better buy it from outside retailers.

I recently bought a Core Duo technology enabled Dell Inspiron 6400 notebook with inbuilt Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 (224MB). Im very much satisfied with it. Well, if u want to use ur notebook or desktop for 3D games, then i recommend 128MB ATI mobility Radeon X1300 Hyper Memory Graphics Card (Its available in 256MB also). My friend has it on his new Dell Workstation notebook. It will give u a live experience, that's for sure. Well, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 is cheaper than ATI mobility Radeon. There's a difference of $30-$40.

Thanks!!|||No, you can not upgrade the graphic card in an Inspirion. They are build into the system board. Being a laptop, you have no AGP or PCI slot into which you could insert a new card. You are stuck with what you have. If it was a desktop, you could buy a card aware for it. But not with a laptop.|||It is if you have Nvidia's MXM formfactor or ATI's fornfactor. this is only in very recent systems. Nvidia and ATI are not interhangeable. If you have one or the other, that's the brand you are stuck with

So i was trying to update my video card to play video games, i ran a system check at systemrequirementslab.com and found that i need a minimum of a NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT or ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro. I found some great deals on video cards but how do i know which is better? are the newer cards are the higher the number is?|||Best video card to get for the price right now is the 5670 from ATI.

What is wrong with my video card?

I have an nvidia video card but I don't know which one I have. My computer has been running fine these past few days but all of a sudden the screen just completely changes into weird colors 4-bit and it wont change back even when the windows detects the resolution and color is low and it tries to adjust it. It still doesn't go back to high resolution 64-bit. Whenever I restart the computer the black screen is all in gibberish and there is lines in the screen. What's wrong and how can I fix it, please|||If your PC has an onboard video card, remove the card and move the connecter to the VGA port. Reinstall the software from the CD that came with it

Shutdown

reinstall the video card

The driver should pick up automatically

I have a Nvidia 7950 gt 512mb video card. Does it matter with all the versions out there which one I get?

I'm looking to add a second card, when I google to buy one there's like literally 4 different versions of the same card out there. Will they all work? It's just confusing.|||http://www.google.com/products/catalog?h…

I need help finding a video card for my Dell Dimension B110?

My church has a dell dimension b110 with an integrated video card. I wanted to get another video card to install into the computer so I can extend my screen. The problem I have is that the PCI slot seems to only have two slots, I bought a video card and it has three slots. I don't really know much about computers so whatever help is appreciated.|||Take a look at these different PCI card types: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co…

You may have gotten a universal (3.3v or 5v) 32 bit video card. If so, just line up the two slots and leave the third hanging over (not used).|||Most modern video cards are of the PCie category. Your older Dell does NOT have a PCIe slot - but it does have 3 PCI expansion slots. You must get a plain PCI video card - which there are not a lot of because of it being old technology. Tigerdirect has some:

Keep in mind that this Dell has only a 250w power supply - so check the power requirements of any card you buy.|||You can consider buying
