Do i need a video card in my computer for monitor to come on?

i dont have vidoe card in computer and wanted to know is that the reason my monitor will not show anything and if i install video card then will my monitor come on?|||What is your monitor plugged into right now? If it isn't plugged into the computer anywhere then no it won't show anything. If it is plugged into the computer then you have on-board graphics built on the motherboard. If this is the case then try pressing F8 while it boots up. Then check your graphics settings.|||Yes.

All PCs require special circuitry that is used to make the text and graphics images that you see on your display.|||Newer PCs have on board video so you don't need a video card, but most older machines do require one.
