Does the kind of memory a video card matter?

I am looking at buying this graphics card that costs 149.99 USD but it has GDDR4 memory and my computer uses DDR2 memory, does this matter?|||It shouldn't...I've ran a GDDR2 video card on a computer with DDR RAM, so I think you're safe.
